Following on from my post on Tuesday, the Pembrokeshire hedges are actually stone walls with an earth bank inside, which give pockets of soil for plants to grow in. In the damp places, the navelwort (Umbilicus rupestris) thrives. Always makes me smile – a sign of home and I love that traditionally people named plants simply by what they reminded them of…their bellybuttons!
