I love the colours, textures, shapes, beauty and utility in this arrangement. The orange of the Chinese lanterns (Physalis alkekengi) pings off the blue of the walls; the fragile, reflective glass lantern and dome contrast with the sturdy, wooden seed drawers and all important grandfather clock; the clay pots for growing against the metal, harvesting tools.
Each item adding its own character, use, importance to the collective whole of producing food, ornament, health and pleasure and each one marking the seasons and passing of time in their own way.
