This camellia bush in our garden was literally buzzing with insects in the sun at the weekend. You can really see in this photo, but the bees knees were laden with pollen – clearly an early season favourite food source for bees and other pollinators including moths.

I’ll be including camellias in my designs from now on for their early food source. There are others too, such as primrose and pulmonarias.
