Nant-yr-Arian, Cardiganshire, Wales

This was taken one evening in April at Nant-yr-Arian Forest visitor centre looking down the valley to Aberystwyth. I love travelling home via this route. Once I’ve passed Shrewsbury and left the motorways and dual carriageways, I literally have to drop down a gear to enter Wales which is a network of long, winding roads. The section of road west of Llangurig goes through the mountains, with shear drops on one side of the road and massive, steep mountains covered with sheep on the other. It feels like I’ve passed into another world and left the chaos of the midlands behind. Then you come across this view and…breathe!!

The only thing missing at this point is a G&T, but then I’ve still got almost another two hours until I’m home!

Visit Nant-yr-Arian if you can (https://naturalresources.wales/), to see stunning views and red kites, and walk or bike, or just sit and soak up the peace.
