Stormy sky

At this time of year we start getting really dark stormy skies and bright shafts of light picking out the contrasting colours. It really does look as atmospheric as this photo shows. It’s a bit grainy as it’s early evening and the light is a bit low, but adds to the mood don’t you think?

I really like it when the low sun brilliantly picks out the autumn colours of the woods on the horizon behind our house, against a battleship grey sky. They glow as brightly as the red bricks of the buildings here.

It’s a very different quality of light here to where I grew up in Pembrokeshire. I’m sure someone can explain the physics behind it, but as my A-level physics teacher used to say to those of us not taking A-level maths as well – it’s just magic!! Certainly is.
